Universal Bathroom Design: Best for Accessibility for Everyone

A universal bathroom design is fast becoming the design of choice for homeowners who are either building a new home or who wish to renovate their old bathroom area. What is a universal bathroom design? Simply put, it is a design which provides general accessibility for everyone in the home, whether they are disabled or not. That may seem like a complicated thing to accomplish, but today's home designers are more and more advocating these design elements for bathrooms for several reasons.
More Practical
First, it is more practical to build a home that is readily usable by anyone, rather than for a smaller segment of the population. The fact is, the overall population in the U.S. is aging significantly and there will be a larger group of elderly and disabled home occupants than ever before in the coming years.
Also, it is financially more expedient for homeowners to build a home that is already equipped to meet general handicap needs, rather than have to completely remodel a bathroom when the time comes. For those who need to remodel a current bathroom for disability needs, choosing a universal bathroom design makes a lot of sense because oftentimes everyone in the home must be able to use the bathroom, not just the handicapped user. Universal design principles work well for everyone in the home.
